Who? What?

Who am I?

A regular girl. Fairly average in all ways. I play volleyball and I row. Six days a week. (It's tough. It's awesome.)

I love to read books of all sorts. My favorites include Princess Academy by Sharon Hale, I Thought You Were Dead by Pete Nelson, Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, and of course anything written by John Green.

John and Hank Green are two of my personal heroes. Their love for the world around them and the desire to impact people around them in a positive way is amazing. The community that they have created does extraordinary things.

I am currently in high school and I will *hopefully* graduate with an IB diploma in two years. I plan on studying neuroscientist but this is subject to frequent change.

Why am I here?

I live my life with two pieces of advice in mind. The first goes a little like this-

Make your automatic reaction a positive one.

Pretty self explanatory, but I do have a story. One day I was walking home from the bus, as I do, and it started raining. Like pouring, raining. Of course I didn't have a jacket but before I became upset, I started to sing. And so I sang "Singing in the Rain" and danced the whole way home. And it was fantastic.

The second one goes as follows.

If you live casually, you'll become a casualty.

I took this to mean that I had to live with intention, and I believe it's true. If we go around believing that something will happen someday, soon we'll be old and life will have passed us by. I'm a shy person and I'm not really in to doing "activities". But I try to push myself out of my comfort zone and do things not because they're what everyone else is doing but because it is exciting and because it makes me happy.

I follow both these pieces of advice because they have made my life better. And I suppose I started writing this blog to help encourage others to do the same. So whether you mock me or criticize me or say to yourself, "wow, this girl is spectacular," just remember that I'm trying to make a positive impact in the world, even if only one person listens.
